"The Atmosphere Explosives Directive 94/9/EC"
ATEX is the name given to the requirements controlling explosive atmospheres and areas, and sets the standard of equipment and protective systems used within these areas. There are two requirements based on European Directives:
-
Directive 99/92/EC (ATEX 137) The minimum requirement to be met for the standards for improving health and safety of workers potentially at risk from explosives or in potentially explosive atmospheres. All details can be found on the E.U. website.
- Directive 94/9/EC (ATEX 95)
Concerns the equipment and protective systems to be used in a situation
classified under 99/92/EC. In GB requirements were put into effect in
regulations of the Dangerous Substances and Explosives Atmosphere Regulation
DSEAR 2002. Not all industry is regulated by this if they are covered by
other legislation.
Employers must classify areas of their workshops where hazard situations may
occur. Further information on this classification and the rules which govern
this are also found DSEAR website. Equipment within or protective systems
used within these areas are subject to ATEX 94/9/EC regulations and as such
need to conform to the guidelines.
When the work place is assessed, any equipment installed previous to July
2003 can still be used if a risk assessment shows it to be safe. All
equipment installed before 2003 must have met requirements by July 2006.
Work places installed but modified before 2006 must meet requirements at the
time of modification. Work places coming into use for the first time after
June 2003 must be fully compliant immediately.
The sort of regulations are becoming increasingly relevant in many industrial
areas, even small engineering sites maybe be subject to rethink work space
designation and equipment conformation. To suit, Air Pumping offers a range of
ATEX certified air operated double diaphragm pumps designed specifically for
non-spark intrinsically safe usage within volatile areas!
Visit our website now at airpumping.co.uk/atex to read more info on ATEX certification, download the
full guidelines and find out which pump you need to make sure your application is still within regulation!
"AIR SUPPLIES FROM ONE CONVENIENT PROVIDER"Air Pumping has recently become a distributing agent for MATTEI Compressors and can now supply complete compressed air packages of system design, installation and maintenance, and also supply reliable high quality compressors for stationary, industrial, and OEM applications. All ancillaries are available, as well as supply lubricants, refrigerant and absorption dryers, filters, and operating cost analysis of compressed air installations, giving customers not only the information they need, but the backup they require.
Air Pumping Ltd. are committed to serving customers, and can even design and build individual bespoke compressors to suit your exact specifications. Quotes are based competitively on a number of compressors and associated equipments, giving customers a comprehensive choice of available options to take, NOT JUST offering a one set machinery line.
This offers Air Pumping a distinct advantage as they can not only offer prospective clients the equipment to tranfer their liquid / fluid to point of storage or dispense, but can even offer the necessary plant and pipework to power their fluid solution. Why waste time speaking to multiple companies when you can contract one supplier for a full quote and install?

"LUBRICATION AND GREASING TECHNOLOGY"Air Pumping grease systems are fully portable, dedicated grease ratio pumps for the application of thick viscous fluids, lubes and materials. The systems attache to a drum via the use of a sealed follower plate, squeezing the product out under high pressures at quick and consistant flow rates. Dispensing is metered by use of a trigger nozzle to dispense at point of use, with compatibility for grease nipples, reservoirs and other filling stations easily catered for. Standard issue barrel sizes are 250 kilo to 50 kilo barrels, but all shapes and sizes can be catered for, bespoke systems are our speciality! Each unit is available constructed in either a portable or static guise to suit your usage and needs.
The benefits of these systems on a health and safety level are invaluable. This is a clean, economic and efficient system which will provide many solutions throughout a garage, railway maintenance yard or any working environment where lubricating and handling of vicous fluids is common place. It eliminates the need for any contact with harmful or noxious substances for employees - giving a safe and hazard free working environment - and also saves the carrying and moving of heavy or cumbersome equipment. The portability kit adds a massive extra bonus too, effectively meaning the system can be taken anywhere there is an air suppy (pits, tunnels, workshops, under lifts, etc.)!
